The Obsidian Crown
Marcus is every bit as Djir as his mother. The child is fearless and by age six has already demonstrated himself to be a proficient warrior/hunter. He speaks both Kaedian and the language of the Djir fluently and often acts as an interpreter for his mother. He has become a mascot to the men and is always sneaking off to watch the men drill or learn some new technique without his parent’s knowledge. Marcus is a loving child who sees the army as his big tribe; he has committed every soldier’s name to memory. Daniel feels affection for the boy, believing that he will make a fine leader some day.
